Education – Need of the day.
Many rural people and village folk do not have a clear cut understanding about the importance of Education. It is the duty of every citizen to convince and educate the illiterate the importance of Education and the Values in Education. Even after elapse of 60 years of our Independence, Basic Education is not reaching the doorsteps of poor people and people living below poverty line, despite the strict implementation of the constitutional provisions relating to the Free and Compulsory Education to the children below the age of 14 years, from time to time in the Country. Each one has to teach one, about the vital importance of Education and its implications. It is our Endeavour to educate all. “Education for all” is one of the important schemes being implemented by the Government for improvement of literacy in our Country. In the light of what is stated above, priority to be given to the process of Education being the need, necessity, requirement of the day, today.
Education – Need of the Day: It gives all requirements
Education is the most important invention of mankind. Man without education would still be living just like an animal. It is education, which transformed man from a mere “two-legged animal” into human. It helps him to behave like a man and prevents him from behaving like an animal. Education is as basic element for civilization, social service, culture, behaviour, Attitude, Values, developing conduct and character, ethics and what not, but also to be considered just like reproduction and nutrition are essential to biological evolution. Education of a human being does not begin at School, it begins at birth. It actually ends, not when he graduates from the University, but at his death. . It will occur from womb to tomb. It is a life-long process. Education is both acquisition of knowledge or art of teaching and the development of skills, attitudes, habits etc. The child should be trained through experiences of his life, so that the best in his life can be achieved. Human mind matured through the process of Education. It is Education which gives strength, vigor, competency, Productivity, and Intellectuality.
Education is a Product: It helps us for better utilization and prospects
Education is like a product. A person is said to be educated, when he acquires knowledge, skills, attitudes etc which are the product of group life at a great cost of time and suffering. Education becomes a product only when it is used as “assimilation of the culture of any society, and its transmission from one generation to another”. Since culture is dynamic in nature, education fosters to the people, the values, which are universally accepted as valuable at a particular point of time. Productivity generates through the process of Education and its accomplishments.
Education is a Direction: It regulates the human life.
Education is the dynamic growth of the human beings. It is a direction. A Child is born with a number of unlearned responses, natural tendencies, impulses, urges and drives. These natural impulses, if left un-checked and un-controlled, would lead to a barbarian way of life. His life will be unsystematic, purposeless and disorganized. Life becomes systematic, purposeful, and principled only when it is subject to control and direction through Education. Human beings developed socially, economically, politically and ethically by means of various directions and instructions through the process of Education. The regularity of the process of one’s own life, is basically dependable on the directions involved and envisaged by means of Educational trends.
Education is Training: It imparts theoretical as well as practical training.
Education is nothing but a training process. The main purpose of Educational Training is to make an individual skilled in the performance of a specific activity. The four skills involved in the teaching of a language – listening, speaking, reading and writing-are all obtained through training, although they implicitly involve the training of the senses as well as that of the limbs. Education is nothing but the imparting training and development of skills. Instruction is a part of education, as it is limited to the child’s development. Instruction can be seen as a part of schooling, the narrowest sense in which the term “education” can possibly be used. Instruction is the process whereby students are inclined towards fulfilling the cognitive objectives of education. Acquisition of academic skills is possible only through the Educational training.
Education is an Initiative: It motivates for taking right decisions in life.
Education generates initiation. Initiation emphasizes the procedures defining a discipline as well as into a mastery of the established content that people should learn to think. It implies Planning, Programming, Procedures and standards. It consists initiating others into activities, modes of conduct and thought, which have standards. Such initiation can develop the quality of life of the pupils. Man is not born with virtues. The process of Education imprints virtues in the minds of the pupils and initiates them to avoid animal enjoyment and to accept a good quality of living.
Education is Kalpavriksha: It gives all in life.
Education is acquisition of knowledge and skill. Knowledge is power. Education is that knowledge leads to wisdom. Education can be termed as Kalpavriksha, a divine tree which fulfills all the desires of an individual. Education gives health and wealth. All the necessities derived systematically from the educational process It shapes the intelligence of a person, makes our speech truthful, increases our fame, and keeps us away from sin, delights us and spreads our name in all direction. All human beings endeavor to get the desired results by involving in the process of Education and Knowledge.
Education is Profession: It develops professional status and ethical values.
Education is a profession. In the light of the rapid civilization, Education has been recognized as a vocation and as a profession with higher and more definitely recognized standards. Professional standards and culture derived through the means of Education. Professionalism develops with Educational activities. Professional advancement and growth is possible only through the practice and implementation of Educational Policies and schemes.
Education is Modification of behaviour: It paves the way for proper behaviour.
Education cultivates modification of behaviour of the individual. A human being lives in and through his environment, for the satisfaction of his needs; he is to be in constant interaction with his environment. Such interactions result in the modification of human behavior. Education thus may be described as the modification of human behavior. Education becomes co-extensive with the life of the individual. Every experience in life, big, or small, is educative. It affects our personality and modifies our behavior. Education is transmission of Culture: It generates culture and its values.
Education is for the transmission of culture. Education may include all learning processes. We learn many things in many ways. Wherever there are human groups, there is culture, i.e., a man made part of environment and learned patterns of behaviour. People follow established customs ( range of choice, and limitations) in dressing procreating, associating in families and group, performing rituals, eating valuing in creating art, in speculating about the world and in believing in division of labour, the distribution and valuation of products, etc.
Education is a life long process: There is no end for Educational process.
Education is a life long process. It generates from womb to tomb. There is no end for it. Each and every individual involves in the activities of education for ever. It is a continuous teaching learning process. It gives mental satisfaction, general behaviour and culture. It generates social status to very individual. It creates honor to every person. There is every possibility to learn everything in every walk of life, Education is a process immersed in different situations between family members, friends, relatives, and colleagues etc., There is no bar to be educated. Acquiring Certificates and awards for Educational qualifications is not only regarded as Education, acquisition of skills, improvement of qualities, behaviour, values, and attitudes in day to day life till the death of the individual is also be regarded as education in one’s own life. Creativity develops day by day. It enriches with the help of practice and following. Practice makes men perfect in all the activities relating to Education. Knowledge improves and intellectuality develops throughout the life by means of Educational practices and programmes. Consciously or un-consciously we are being educated in every walk of our life. Life thus becomes a long process of education and education becomes synonymous with the act of living. Education need not necessarily be connected only with Schools and Colleges.
